When you began planning your wedding you may have already thought about the music that will be playing as you walk down the aisle. But did you know that you will need to choose more than one piece of music?
From the Prelude to the Recessional, here’s a jargon-busting list of the different musical parts of your ceremony:

Prelude
This is the calm and gentle music playing as your guests arrive and find their seats.
Processional
Music to accompany the bride and the bridal party as they make their way down the aisle. This can be one piece for the whole bridal party or two separate pieces for the bridal party and then the bride and escort.
Interlude
For the part in your ceremony where there is no talking, such as the signing of the register, the lighting of a candle or other ritual. When signing the register it is often a good idea to choose two songs during this time.
Recessional
Music as you return back up the aisle as a married couple and exit the ceremony. Often a more lively and upbeat tune.
Postlude
A short period of time as your guests leave the ceremony. It is nice to have music playing until every guest has left the ceremony area.
Your celebrant or musicians can offer advice or help with the different music choices for your ceremony.
